Meet Our Veterinary Team in Clifton Park, NY

Our animal hospital is only as good as its team. Drs. Alan and Lisa Knott, their fellow veterinarians, and all of the supporting team members of Cornerstone Veterinary Hospital of Clifton Park believe in taking care of one another in order to take the best possible care of your pets. They are the foundation of our practice and we are extremely proud to have them in our vet family.

dr alan knott bio

Dr. Alan Knott earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ohio State University in 2006. He has always wanted to have a profession in which he could help both people and animals; veterinary medicine was a natural fit! Owning the practice allows him to take one step further to empower others to do the same. In his many roles at the hospital, Dr. Knott finds it so rewarding to help people by helping their pets — the human-animal bond is truly incredible!

Dr. Knott is married to his wife, Dr. Lisa Knott, and they have two children: Lillian and Andrew. Their family also includes two pets, Holly a long-haired Chihuahua, and Brutus, a Chihuahua mix. In his spare time, Dr. Knott enjoys watching Ohio State sports, especially football, playing golf, and working in the yard and garden. He also really loves going to summer concerts, especially Dave Matthews Band.

Everyday I am blessed to be able to empower our team to help families and pets across our region!

dr lisa knott bio

Dr. Lisa Knott earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 2006. Growing up, she always loved science, nature, and animals, as well as problem-solving and “fixing things.” It was a natural progression to choose a career that included everything she loved! In her roles at the hospital, she truly loves being there for people during both the good and the not-so-good parts of being a pet parent. It’s an emotional roller coaster, but at the end of the day, it’s rewarding to know she’s made a difference in someone’s life.

Dr. Knott is married to her husband, Dr. Alan Knott, and together they have two children, Lillian and Andrew, as well as two pets, Holly, a long-haired Chihuahua, and Brutus, a Chihuahua mix. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, jogging, and gardening. She is especially proud of raising two confident, compassionate, and loving little people! In addition, she loves summer, the beach, and being warm (pretty much anything not involving winter in upstate New York!).

I've been helping pets for 14 years and can't wait to help you and your family!

dr curtin

Dr. Curtin earned his DVM from Oklahoma State University in 2004. He chose a career in the veterinary industry in order to combine his affinity for the biological sciences with the opportunity to improve the quality of life for pets. In his role, Dr. Curtin finds it rewarding to help strengthen the bond between pets and their owners.

In his spare time, Dr. Curtin enjoys watching films and going to concerts and sporting events.

Since I joined Cornerstone in 2018, everyone involved with the practice has worked hard each and every day to create a welcoming environment for pets and their families.

dr monast

Dr. Monast earned her DVM from Cornell University in 2004. She has a very classic story of wanting to be a vet since childhood. When she was in the second grade, her dog died and she decided then and there that she wanted to be able to help pets. In her daily job, she finds that it is very rewarding to be a bridge between owners and their pets by helping owners understand what is going on with their furry family so they can make the best decisions for their health.

Dr. Monast and her husband have two children and two cats named Joy and Kevin. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, crossword puzzles, watching hockey, and baking. She also really loves chocolate!

From adoption to throughout your pet's life, I'll be there for you and your pet.

dr melanie brennan bio

Dr. Brennan earned her DVM from Tufts University in 2006. She’s wanted to be a vet since she was eight years old, and she’s never veered from that path! Working with animals has always been in her passion. She also loves interacting with people and working in the science field. In her role, she enjoys getting to know families and building a trusting relationship to help their pet through both happy and difficult times.

Dr. Brennan and her partner, Ashley, have two pets, a Chihuahua mix named Lupita and a Beagle/Bulldog mix named Brutus. She also has two girls, Ashlyn and Shayla, and one boy named Cannon. In her spare time, Dr. Brennan enjoys dancing, yoga, reading, and traveling — and she absolutely loves Chihuahuas! She’s also proud to be a breast cancer survivor since 2015.

I absolutely love forming a bond with you and your pet, and getting to know both of you so that I can help your family to the best of my ability. I've been treating pets of many species for 15 years, and just love getting to know each and every new animal and owner!

Dr Diana P

Dr. Diana earned her DVM from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. She has a special interest in exotics. Dr. Diana always liked figuring out how the world around us works. She has had experiences in multiple scientific fields. In fact, she started out as a communications technician in the Marines where she worked on various electrical equipment. During that time, she also earned her degree in psychology. After she finished her military career, she decided to combine two things that she’s always loved: science and animals, so she went into veterinary medicine! In her current role, she loves helping animals and their people.

Dr. Diana has a cat at home named Dylan, whom she rescued from the Caribbean. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, skiing, and scuba diving. One of her favorite books is The Lions of al-Rassan by Guy Gavriel Kay.

At Cornerstone, we're family and we'd love to welcome you to that family.

dr briceland

Dr. Briceland earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in May 2020. She completed her clinical training at Cornell University. She has wanted to be a veterinarian since she was 4 years old and her passion for animals began to flourish. Dr. Briceland is currently completing her certification in acupuncture through the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Her veterinary interests include sports medicine, surgery, and regenerative medicine.

Outside of work, Dr. Briceland is an avid horseback rider and participates in dressage and hunter jumper events. She has two horses of her own: Star, a paint Thoroughbred and Lucy, an Appendix Quarter Horse. She also recently adopted a Retriever mix puppy named Soca. In her spare time, Dr. Briceland also enjoys hiking, playing her acoustic guitar, and traveling. Her favorite food is macaroni and cheese.

At Cornerstone, we take pride in our teamwork to deliver compassionate quality care so that your pet can live their best life!

dr emaily geraghty

Dr. Geraghty graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015 with her DVM and she completed her clinical year at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is also certified in veterinary acupuncture by the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine and certified in animal chiropractic by Options for Animals School of Animal Chiropractic and by the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association. She is in training to become Fear Free Certified as well.

Growing up, Dr. Geraghty only ever wanted to be a veterinarian. In high school, when her own horse (who is now 28!) needed an abscess drained and penicillin shots daily, the experience cemented her decision. When she graduated vet school, she took a position as a mixed animal practitioner and loved working with the farm animals. She transitioned to small animal exclusively through working as a relief vet for better quality of life. Dr. Geraghty is excited to settle in an area with many pets to help and provide excellent quality medicine, both traditional and alternative. The most rewarding part of her job is helping clients understand the options for their furry family members. She also loves watching the positive transformations of geriatric patients from their alternative therapies, medication, or support products like paw traction granules.

Dr. Geraghty is married to her husband, Sean, and they have one daughter, Lilly. The family also has a few animals including two dogs, Piper, a ‘coconut retriever’ from Ross, and Trooper, a Red Tick/Aussie mix, a cat, many chickens, a handful of Hereford cows, two horses, and three donkeys.

To quote James Herriot, “I hope to make people realize how totally helpless animals are, how dependent on us, trusting as a child that we will be kind and take care of their needs.”
